Dazai secretly met with Akutagawa and asked him to be a lookout during the upcoming battle, two weeks before the Decay of Angels attack. But when they saw a smoke signal, Dazai took the chance to join Atsushi's fight. He quickly disabled the enemy's ship engine by attacking Fukuchi. Dazai chose Akutagawa for his strength against a powerful Devil, but Akutagawa struggled in the intense battle.
They escaped to a lower basement, where Atsushi learned Dazai's plan to defeat Fukuchi. Dazai transferred his Kokko Zessou ability to Atsushi, giving him deadly claws. They tried to outsmart Fukuchi underwater, but he countered their moves effortlessly. Fukuchi had a mythical katana that could manipulate space and time, and he wounded both Akutagawa and Atsushi. Despite their injuries, they refused to give up.
Fukuchi offered Akutagawa a chance to escape, but Akutagawa tricked him and launched a surprise attack. With Atsushi's help, they managed to defeat Fukuchi using Kokko Zessou. However, Fukuchi had a deadly trump card—the space-time sword Amenogozen. He used it to alter the past and cut off Atsushi's arm. In the end, Akutagawa tried to fight back with a smokescreen, but Fukuchi swiftly beheaded him.
