The Culling Game forces participants to fight, earn points, and make strategic decisions in order to survive. But what makes it different from ordinary battles is how structured and unforgiving its rules are. The Culling Game takes place inside several colonies across Japan, each sealed with a barrier.

Sorcerers and non-Sorcerers are marked as players, meaning they cannot escape the barrier without facing execution. While the basic idea sounds simple — fight and survive — the detailed rules push participants into dangerous conflicts and force them to play smart. So let's see how the game operates.

How To Join And The Basic Setup Of Culling Game

To become a participant, a person must meet specific conditions set by Kenjaku. This usually involves having a Cursed Technique or being infused with one through his plans. Once marked, the player is teleported or guided through the barrier into a colony, and from that moment on, they are officially part of the Culling Game.

Some Sorcerers like Megumi and Itadori were already a part of the game and were given 19 days to enter a colony to avoid facing execution. Once inside, each colony is isolated, preventing easy travel between different game zones.

Communication is limited, and all fights must happen within the boundaries. Players are also given information about the game rules, a points system, and the ability to add rules under certain circumstances. A personal Shikigami called Kogane is assigned to each player to keep up with the rules and their points.

Initial Rules And Deadlines Of The Culling Game

The first rule the Culling Game puts up is that after awakening their Cursed Technique, a player must declare their participation and enter a colony within 19 days. Any player who fails to follow the first rule will face Cursed Technique removal, which will ultimately lead to their death.

The next rule states that any non-player who enters a colony automatically becomes a player.

However, any person who is already inside a colony, will get one chance to leave before the game starts. Players can score points by killing other players. Sorcerers are worth 5 points while non-Sorcerers are worth one point each.

The next rule is about adding more rules. Any player with a 100 points, can add a rule to the game by spending the said 100 points. The final rule states that if a player's score does not change for 19 days, they will be subject to Cursed Technique removal (death).

Rules About Adding Conditions

One of the most strategic aspects of the Culling Game is the ability to modify rules after acquiring enough points. This gives certain players the chance to alter gameplay in ways that benefit them or hinder opponents.

However, adding a rule has limits. For example, you can’t create a condition that fully breaks the structure of the game. Nor can a player create a rule that threatens to end the game. Kenjaku ensures the core purpose of battle and survival remains intact, so any changes made must fit within the framework.

Rules Added By Other Players

Hajime Kashimo is the first player who adds a rule by spending his points. He asks Kogane to add a rule where players can access information about other players. The next rule is added by Hiromi Higuruma, that players can transfer points among each other. Higuruma did this at Itadori's request.

Megumi added another rule where players can leave the game by spending a 100 points and appointing a substitute. Moreover, Yorozu adds a rule where all players can enter and exit across all colony barriers. Kenjaku also has the right to add rules as the Game Master and he regulates all these rule throughout the game.
