S-Class Heroes are all unique in their own ways in One Punch Man. But the one who stands out the most is Zombieman, the S-Class rank 6. Since he's so high up on the Hero chart, we're sure he is definitely one of the strongest Heroes. But was he born this strong, or is there something else to the story?
Zombieman was created in the House of Evolution, the same mad science group that made characters like Carnage Kabuto. He was even known as Subject No. 66 before escaping and becoming a Hero Association legend. Unlike other S-Class fighters who win with raw strength, Zombieman’s fights are gritty and feel almost impossible, but he always comes back.

Who Is Zombieman? Origins And Powers

Zombieman’s story is tied to Dr. Genus and the House of Evolution, a lab obsessed with pushing the limits of humanity. As one of their experiments, he was the only success in their quest to create an immortal human. The result? Zombieman was blessed and cursed with extraordinary healing, able to recover from nearly any wound, no matter how deep.
This has made him a near-unstoppable force in long, drawn-out battles. He doesn’t have the flashy laser beams or super strength of some allies. Instead, his talent makes him perfect for outlasting tough, brutal enemies in longer-lasting battles.
Zombieman wields basic gear including axes and pistols, but his main weapon is his willingness to take damage and keep fighting. It’s not easy or pretty, but it sets him apart as someone you can count on when things look hopeless.
Personality, Fights, And Major Moments

Zombieman’s calm and grim personality matches his power. He is rarely shaken, almost always keeps a cool head, and doesn’t back down, even when facing pain that would stop any normal person. Cherry on top, he is known for clever thinking in a fight using his regeneration to surprise and wear down opponents, not just for defence.
This was evident in his fight against the Vampire Pureblood. In the fight, he let himself be attacked over and over, knowing he’d eventually outlast his enemy. Other S-Class Heroes often rely on overwhelming offense, but Zombieman serves as the team’s anchor. In big battles, he helps protect weaker allies and takes on enemies others would avoid.
Why Zombieman Matters In One Punch Man?

Zombieman’s role in One Punch Man goes beyond just action; he adds a different kind of Heroism to the team. While Heroes like Saitama and Tatsumaki show what it means to be the strongest, Zombieman shows the value of survival, courage, and persistence.
Fans like Zombieman and Saitama because they prove you don’t need flashy powers to have an impact. Zombieman's story is about dealing with your scars, both inside and out, and still moving forward. With his mysterious past, steady courage, and unbeatable will, Zombieman is proof that Heroes come in all kinds — and sometimes, the undead Hero is the one you want most on your side.
