Spoiler Alert: This article contains spoilers from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba Anime and Manga.
Genya is initially introduced as a hot-headed and aggressive character who often clashes with his fellow Semon slayers due to his abrasive personality. However, it is later revealed that his behavior is a result of his difficult childhood.
In the latest episode, a lot of new and intriguing material has been revealed, like Mitsuri's unique sword, Tanjiro's newfound sword, and Upper Rank 5, Gyokko's fighting styles. But the most exciting one was Genya's Demonic form in Demon Slayer. It has really made the fans wonder about that scary look on Genya's face and if he is turned into a Demon.

Tanjiro Discovers Genya

Tanjiro achieves a new awakening when his sword changes its color to bright red. He goes on to use Hinokami Kagura and slashes off the head of Sekido, Karaku, and Urogi simultaneously. To their shock, they could see Yoriichi Tsugikuni in an inherited memory through Muzan's blood.
Just the sight of Yoriichi sent shivers down the spine of all these Demons. After slashing off the heads of these 3, Tanjiro goes on to look for the fourth Demon. While he does find Aizetsu, the fourth Demon, dead at the hands of Genya, only to find out that Genya is himself turned into a Demon, or at least what seems by the looks of it.

Tanjiro's heart sank as he stared at Genya's transformation. The once-human boy now had a dark aura around him, his eyes blazing with a frightening intensity. Tanjiro knew that this was no mere disguise or illusion - Genya had somehow become a Demon himself.
The Secret Behind Genya's Demonization

Genya possesses a unique ability called Demonic Transformation which allows him to gain Demonic powers. These abilities include enhanced strength and regenerative abilities. But it is not just his body that faces the changes; his eyes and hair change too.
The method by which Genya enters his demonic form is indeed a fascinating and somewhat disturbing aspect of his character. The fact that he has to consume the flesh of a living Demon in order to acquire their traits is a testament to the lengths that he is willing to go to in order to become stronger.
To support this ability, he has specialized organs that do not harm his body when he consumes the flesh of living Demons. Moreover, his inability to use a Breathing Technique is compensated for by his use of the Amida Sutra.
