Updated: Jun 19, 2023

Hantengu Blood Demon Art explained

The latest episode of the Swordsmith Village Arc of Demon Slayer has left the fans in shock, as the action started pretty early in the season. Hantengu has shown up with the purpose of ending the lives of the Demon Slayers, who are a threat to the life of his Lord, Muzan Kibutsuji. Despite the successful attempt of beheading Hantengu by the Mist Hashira, Hantengu remains undefeated.

In fact, Hantengu finally got the chance to reveal his Blood Demon Art. He splits into 4 new personalities, each with its own traits and weapons, and the cherry on top is that each of these demons is as powerful as an Upper Ranked Demon. The Demon Slayer Corps members are going to go through a real hassle to defeat this monster. Let's take a closer look at Hantengu's Blood Demon Art.

Hantengu's Blood Demon Art Explained

Hantengu's Blood Demon Art is called Emotion Manifestation, wherein his emotions are channeled into clones from his main body. His BDA is activated when his head is cut off. The six personalities that Hantengu splits into are as follows:

All these personalities have different abilities, traits, appearances, and minds. What makes Hantengu close to unbeatable is the fact that all these personalities would stay alive until the main body is intact. Let's explore each of these personalities in detail.

Sekido (The Anger)
Sekido

Sekido embodies the angry emotions of Hantengu and as a result of the same, he is always angry and infuriated. The weapon he uses is a Khakkhara, otherwise known as the monk's staff. Sekido is seen complaining most of the time and it appears as if he is disappointed in his fellow comrades.

His Blood Demon Art is useful in releasing powerful bolts of lightning through his Khakkhara. The bolts have a wide range of attacks and are able to paralyze or faint the victim. However, these bolts cannot pass through any of the things made from his own body cells, for instance, the other clones.

Karaku (The Pleasure)
Karaku

This guy is the most laid-back and stress-free out of all the personalities that Hantengu possesses. Everything that happens around him is like a game and he likes to have fun. Karaku's Blood Demon Art is, nevertheless, more endangering.

As his maple leaf-shaped Uchiwa swings, powerful gusts of wind are created that can send anyone flying off. This ability comes in handy when he needs to immobilize his opponents. However, a major drawback is that anyone with the possession of his Uchiwa can access its power.

Aizetsu (The Sorrow)
Aizetsu

Always finding the negativity in everything, Aizetsu is another one of Hantengu's personalities. However, he is recognized to be the calmest and the most controlled out of all of Hantengu's manifestations.

Aizetsu uses his calm demeanor to find his enemy's weak spots and figure out the best attack that could get him out of the fight quickly as a winner. Moreover, the Yari that he uses is great at attacking targets from afar.

Urogi (The Joy)
Hantengu Urogi personality

The manifestation of Hantengu's joy, Urogi, just like Karaku, considers fighting the demon slayers as a game and takes great joy in doing the same. He is also the only one who can fly out of all of Hantengu's manifestations.

Urogi's Blood Demon Art helps him create powerful sound waves from his mouth. The sound waves have such strength that they made Tanjiro bleed from his nose and ears and also stunned him.

Zohakuten (The Hatred)
Zohakuten the hatred personality of Hantengu

Just like Sekido, Zohakuten tends to stay solemn as he manifests Hantengu's hatred. Since Hantengu considers himself innocent, this hatred is believed to be against humanity. Also, this manifestation of Hantengu has the body of a child.

Zohakuten is one of the most dangerous personas of Hantengu's Blood Demon Art. Moreover, Zohakuten's abilities are stunning. He uses Wood Manipulation to control his surroundings and he can use the abilities of all of the above-mentioned manifestations. He basically is a mixture of Sekido, Karaku, Aizetsu, and Urogi.

Urami (The Resentment)
Urami Hantengu Blood Demon Art

Urami is a means of escape for Hantengu. He uses Urami as a last resort so that he can escape from the blades of the Demon Slayers. Urami's personality is one like Hantengu himself. He thinks of himself as innocent as a cow and is paranoid and delusional.

Hantengu uses Urami as a defense mechanism, as the Urami's Blood Demon Art allows him to manipulate his body size. Hantengu used Urami to hide his heart in the large body so that the Demon Slayers could not find it.
