Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1 Recap: Everything To Know Before Watching Season 2

As the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen draws near, fans find themselves eagerly awaiting the return of their favorite characters and captivating storyline. With a considerable gap since the first season's release, it's natural to desire a refresher on the thrilling events that unfolded.

What Happened In Jujutsu Kaisen Season One

Yuji Itadori And Sukuna's Finger

As the first season commences, we get introduced to Yuji Itadori, a high school student with exceptional athleticism and physical prowess. Here Megumi Fushiguro is introduced, who is looking for a Cursed Object, namely Sukuna's finger, which belonged to Ryomen Sukuna, a Cursed Spirit. Megumi looks for Itadori as he sensed the finger's energy.

Because of the possession of the finger, the Curses attack Megumi, and Yuji joins him in saving the finger from the Curses. Since they are both overwhelmed by the Curses. Yuji swallows Sukuna's finger and is taken over by Sukuna's spirit.

Sukuna starts to attack and overwhelm Megumi. However, the strongest Jujutsu Sorcerer, Gojo Satoru shows up and saves Megumi. To their surprise, Yuji comes back and is able to control Sukuna's spirit.

Gojo Satoru is amused by Yuji's abilities to handle Sukuna and admits him to Tokyo Jujutsu High so that Yuji could be fed all 20 fingers of Sukuna and the King of Curses can be killed permanently. However, Gojo's superiors are opposed to Yuji's strength as he is meant to be dead because he became a Curse.

Itadori's Temporary Death

Yuji Itadori is trained by Gojo as a first-year student alongside Nobara Kugisaki and Megumi Fushiguro. While the three are on a mission, they encounter a Sukuna's finger-bearing Cursed Spirit. While the heavily injured Nobara and Megumi escape, Itadori stays to fight the Spirit with the help of Sukuna.

However, Sukuna takes over Yuji's body and almost kills Megumi, but the tables turn when Sukuna goes on to take Yuji's heart out, killing him. Later on, Sukuna and Itadori make a binding vow, and the latter is revived.

Gojo hides the fact from the whole school that Itadori is alive. Meanwhile, Gojo asks another Sorcerer, Kento Nanami to accompany and train Itadori during his time in hiding from the other students. Nanami and Itadori, while on a mission, encounter a Cursed Spirit named Mahito.

Kyoto Sister School Good-Will Event

Itadori and Nanami, with the interference of Sukuna, are able to defeat Mahito in a moment of desperation. Mahito flees the scene and lives to fight another day. After some time, the Kyoto Sister School Good-Will Event takes place, where the Kyoto Jujutsu School and Tokyo Jujutsu School compete against each other.

However, things take a suspicious turn when the event is intruded on by Cursed Spirits, who are Suguru Geto and Mahito. The opposing schools unite to get rid of the intruders. However, one of the 6 Sukuna Fingers that were possessed by the Tokyo Jujutsu High was stolen by Mahito and his comrades.

The Final Battle Of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1

Megumi, Itadori, and Nobara are assigned to review the situation of suspicious deaths around Megumi's middle school. The deaths were a result of the existence of Cursed Spirits, and the trio is expected to exorcise them.

While investigating the site, the group first encounters another Finger-bearer. But Itadori and Nobara are put to chase a Cursed Womb: Death Painting. Hence, Megumi is left alone to fight the Finger-bearer and was struggling to kill him. However, a newfound inspiration helps him as he achieves Domain Expansion and exorcises the Finger-bearer.

On the other end, Itadori and Kugisaki are faced against two Cursed Womb: Death Painting, who are the brothers and subordinates of Geto and Mahito. Even though they initially struggled, Nobara and Itadori are able to exorcise the Cursed Wombs, ending their reign of terror.
