Jujutsu Kaisen: Why Is Riko Amanai Important?

Riko Amanai is a name that was highlighted in the first two episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2. Not only is she a new and mysterious character, but she also seems to have great significance in the show. Although much is to be revealed about her, there are numerous speculations about her character and the role that she has to play in the life of Sorcerers and Curses. Here is why she is so important in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen.

Why Is Riko Amanai So Important In Jujutsu Kaisen?

To understand the importance of Riko, we need to understand the character of Master Tengen. Master Tengen is an immortal Jujutsu Sorcerer who lives in the Tombs of the Star Corridor.

Their main responsibility is to reinforce the security barriers at Jujutsu High locations to ensure the community's safety. Despite being immortal, Tengen is known for being friendly, honest, and incredibly knowledgeable, always working towards the betterment of humanity.

By reinforcing barriers, Tengen hides the schools from the public eye and enhances the abilities of auxiliary managers. Their immortality grants them eternal life, but every five hundred years, they must reset their body and technique. For this, they require a suitable person to fuse with, called a Star Plasma Vessel.

Riko Amanai is the Star Plasma Vessel that was supposed to fuse with Master Tengen. She willingly accepted to become a Star Plasma Vessel. Riko is a fiery, talkative young woman who seems to have a strong sense of self as the Star Plasma Vessel.

Despite being a non-combatant, Riko possesses the unique ability to perceive curses and has developed a deep understanding of jujutsu. This knowledge was acquired after she discovered her role as the Star Plasma Vessel, a perfect match for Master Tengen.

The Time Vessel Association is a group that aims to stop the fusion of Master Tengen with a Star Plasma Vessel because they worship a pure Master Tengen. Hence, they make it their mission to assassinate Riko.
