The original idea for the story was something else

The story revolves around a skilled ninja named Gabimaru, who has been sentenced to death for his crimes. He is given a chance at redemption by the Shogunate, which sends him on a mission to the mysterious island "Shinsenkyo."

However, originally the story was supposed to be about a venture to the Japanese folktale island Onigashima in order to eliminate the demons that resided on the island. Nevertheless, the modified story turned out to be pretty good.

9/10 Gabimaru's Insomnia

Born and brought up in the Iwagakure Village, Gabimaru had to be on high alert all the time, even from the people of his own village. As a result of this, Gabimaru developed a severe case of insomnia, which he credits to the ability of the Iwagakure ninja.

In the series too, Gabimaru is seen resting only as a result of losing consciousness after a lethal battle. In fact, he can go on to stay awake for at least 10 days and 10 nights. However, he overcomes this problem when he has a peaceful life with his wife.

He is the only ninja who does not wear a Noh mask.

While the use of Noh masks is a common tactic among Iwagakure ninjas to maintain secrecy and avoid detection, Gabimaru's confidence in his abilities and his willingness to confront his enemies head-on without the need for a disguise is a testament to his strength and determination as a warrior.

Perhaps Sagiri's love for candy also represents her desire to hold onto her innocence and childlike wonder, even amidst the gruesome realities of her job.
