But after a tragic car accident took her life, she returned as a Cursed Spirit due to the intense emotions she had while dying. What makes her death so tragic is how unfair it was — Rika didn't deserve to die, and yet she became something monstrous just because she wanted to stay close to Yuta.

Her Cursed form was terrifying, but deep down, she was still the same kind-hearted girl. Yuta’s bond with her is so emotional that when she’s finally set free, it feels like losing her all over again. It’s sad, it’s pure, and it really sets the tone for how painful this anime can get.
