What Was Zeke’s Euthanasia Plan In Attack on Titan?

What was Zeke's Euthanasia plan for the founding Titan

Every Attack on Titan fan would agree that Zeke starts as one of the most mysterious characters. From the moment we meet him, Zeke seems like a ruthless warrior for Marley. But as the story unfolds, we discover that Zeke is playing a much deeper game, one that leads to his shocking Euthanasia Plan.

While it sounded extreme, Zeke believed it was the only way to bring peace to the world. But what exactly was Zeke trying to do? Was he a villain hiding behind logic, or a broken man trying to save people from a cursed future? The Euthanasia Plan confused and shocked many fans, but it was a master plan Zeke came up with.

Zeke’s Painful Childhood Shaped His Beliefs

Zeke Jeager as a kid

Zeke’s twisted way of thinking started from his early childhood. His parents, Grisha and Dina, were Eldian Restorationists who forced their beliefs onto him. They didn’t treat Zeke like a child; they treated him like a tool for their cause. Under all that pressure, Zeke broke down and ended up turning them in to the Marleyan government to save himself. This betrayal haunted him for years.

Later, Zeke found comfort in Tom Ksaver, a Beast Titan holder who became a mentor and father figure to him. Ksaver shared his belief that the Eldian race was doomed to suffer forever because of their Titan powers. Together, they came up with the Euthanasia Plan: if all Eldians lost the ability to reproduce, Titans would eventually vanish, and the world could finally be at peace.

Zeke's Euthanasia Plan: No Eldians, No Titan Powers

Zeke’s plan wasn’t about mass killing. It was about preventing future Eldians from being born. If no Eldians are born, then no new Titans will exist. This way, Zeke believed he could stop the endless cycle of hate, war, and destruction caused by Titan powers. It was a quiet, slow death for the Eldian race, but Zeke thought it was a kind one.

He wanted to use the Founding Titan's power, which Eren had access to, and his own royal blood to rewrite Eldian biology. That way, all Eldians could be genetically changed to lose their ability to have children. No more Titans. No more wars. No more suffering. That was his dream: peace through extinction.

Eren Didn’t Agree With Zeke At All

While Zeke thought he and Eren were on the same page, Eren had very different ideas. Zeke believed Eren was also tired of the pain the Eldians caused the world. But in truth, Eren didn’t want his people to fade away; he wanted them to be free, even if that meant wiping out the rest of the world first. This is where their paths completely split.

In the Paths realm, Zeke tried to convince Eren to join the plan. But Eren rejected him hard and used Zeke’s trust to unlock his own power. In a twist of fate, Zeke became the one trapped, while Eren went forward with the Rumbling, leading to mass destruction instead of quiet extinction.

Was Zeke Evil Or Just Misguided?

Zeke plan for Eldia

Zeke wasn’t your usual bad guy. He wasn’t doing it for power, money, or revenge. In his heart, he really thought he was doing the right thing. He saw how Eldians were hated, how Titans caused pain, and how the world never seemed to change. After everything he lived through, his solution was just to end the Eldian race peacefully.

But here’s the thing: Zeke's Euthanasia plan took away freedom. It wasn’t something he asked Eldians about. He made the choice for everyone based on his own trauma and pain. So while Zeke wasn’t evil in the typical sense, he was definitely wrong to decide the future of an entire race without their voice.

Final Verdict: Zeke Was A Tragic Genius

Zeke Jeager AOT

In the end, Zeke was a tragic genius. He had good intentions, but a flawed way of achieving them. He wanted peace, not war. He wanted to save people from more death and pain, but instead of helping, his plan created more division, more lies, and more suffering.

His story is one of the saddest in Attack on Titan. Zeke tried to fix the world using the Euthanasia plan - the only way he knew. However, his plan failed,d leading to the Rumbling.
